All the admission will be carried out with the approval of the SMDC. It will be the responsibility of the Principal to ensure adherence to the admission guidelines laid down by Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan, Assam. The SMDC will not be empowered to dilute or violate these guidelines. Admissions will be made strictly as per the admission guidelines.
Fresh admission of students shall be made in Class-I and Class-VI only at the start of every academic session.
Seat capacity in each Class shall be 80 i.e. 40 students in each of the two sections per Class. Under no circumstances, excess students shall be enrolled the seat capacity.
Publicity at local level regarding admission of students in Adarsha Vidyalayas is to be made. The details of the admission process, date of admission etc. are to be properly disseminated.
Minimum 50% of seats in both Class I & Class VI are to be reserved for Girls student.
The minimum and maximum age limit for admission in Class-I & Class-VI (as per Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan norms) is shown below:

# As per mandate of NEP 2020, entry age for Class-I has been revised to 6+ years with effect from Academic Session 2022-23.
The selection of students will be done through conducting lottery among all eligible candidates who had applied for admission by the respective SMDC.
SMDC will maintain a transparent procedure of selection of candidates. All records related to numbers of Class wise applicants, approved list of selected candidates by the SMDC etc. are to be maintained properly.
List of selected candidates approved by the SMDC is to be displayed in the school notice board and be communicated to parents/guardians of selected students for admission.
If any seat is found vacant due to non-admission of selected candidates, the SMDC will again select students through conduct of lottery among rest of non-selected candidates of the first lottery.
